Fabulous charity do at Pollards Inn, Willaston in support of Claire House on Friday 18th May 2012

Now, you know it’s not like me to turn down a party invitation .. so when I was invited by Jamie and Cara Kimpton to join them in the lovely new Marquee in the grounds of Pollards Inn, Willaston, of course I didn’t turn them down … although there is a little more to the story than just a (fabulous) party !

Jamie Kimpton is the new landlord of Pollards Inn in Willaston. His mission is to bring back a little of the old Pollards magic with some new surprises, and above all serve the villagers of Willaston (and surrounding areas) with warm & friendly service, good quality locally produced food, and cracking real ales.

There will also be a few licks of paint here and there, new carpets, new pictures and with particular attention being paid to the public loos (!!). Its about time we hear you say, and you’d be right. But Pollards Inn has always been, and always will be a lovely village pub. It just needed a little bit of love – which it is currently receiving – so please bear with us and watch this space …

Anyway – back to the party, and what a fabulous night we had. Pickled Walnut did a super duper job with the banqueting (for over 160 guests!), I particularly enjoyed my main course of Five hour braised shin of Hereford beef with pomme puree, Cumbrian bacon, candied shallots and Shiraz jus. And the citrus tart was the perfect ending to a very nice dinner indeed.

Jamie put mum (Merlynn) and myself on a table of locals who couldn’t have been nicer to us, or funnier – so all was well with the seating plan, although as we were leaving everyone was up off their chairs and boogieing away to the FABULOUS live band The Commisars. I will pop some links into this blog so you can have a little look at what they do .. they really do get every party swinging (!).

And well done to Claire House with a very moving introduction into their ‘a day in the life of …’ account. They do an amazing job and their fundraisers start each day knowing that they have to raise £6500 per day to keep Claire House functioning.

Now that certainly puts things into perspective, don’t you think ?

We will be announcing the total monies raised very shortly .. but I can already tell you it’s whopping !

So, a huge thank you to …

Barry and the team at Pollards for giving us such a great night
