Nags At Haughton re-opens its doors – A true Celebration of Cheshire

I would like to say a massive thank you to Nigel, Craig, Wayne, Kaye and the whole team at Nags At Haughton which re-opened its doors last night, and what a fabulous Cheshire treat of an evening we had!

I was lucky enough to be invited to their preview dinner last night and went along with my good friend Chef Paul Askew (of London Carriage Works and Hope Street Hotel Liverpool fame) and his son Harry.

This was my second visit of the week. I was also invited by the team to a PR morning last Wednesday when Nigel and his team played a bowls match against the Bunbury villagers (yes, there’s even an immaculate bowling green in the pubs own grounds!)… Lancashire V Cheshire (Cheshire won of course!)

This gorgeous new pub really does have more than a WOW factor as it was designed by those very clever chaps at Lister Carter, who I have known and worked with for many years now, and once again they have over-delivered on this gorgeous interior – their attention to detail is always incredible.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and I was delighted with my choice of Field mushroom soufflé with watercress and celeriac sauce to start followed by Slow cooked shoulder of Tatton Park venison for main (the black pudding dripping mash is worth a visit all on its own) and Lemon curd ice cream with meringue and ginger biscuit crumble to finish.

And Nigel even had time to step out of the kitchen on the first evening’s service to come and say hi, the evening couldn’t have got any better!

I can’t wait to visit for Sunday lunch very soon…

Join the Nag’s Head Monday Club.

No membership needed, simply turn up and bring along your own great wine of choice.

It may have been gathering dust in the cellar, or your favourite cheap and cheerful, but for maximum benefit bring something special, or perhaps a Le Montrachet Grand Cru.

The team look forward to learning about your choice of wines on a Monday. Just don’t send it back! Only kidding!

Nigel Haworth and the team are working closely with Deanna Thomas at Taste Cheshire and some of Cheshire’s finest producers including:

Fruit, veg and juices from Willington Fruit Farm

Honey from Haughton Honey

Cheese from Burt’s Cheeses and Bourne’s Cheeses

Beers from Weetwood Ales

Meats from The Cheshire Smokehouse

Ice cream from Ginger’s Comfort Emporium

Dairy from Tiresford Farm

Poultry from Brosters Farm

Nags At Haughton keep it local with their choice of charity too, and they have chosen to support ‘Riding for the disabled of Cheshire’ with the help of their locals and visitors alike.
