JW Lees will be launching ‘Gold’ their new premium cask ale, supporting putting the brewery at the heart of the business.

‘Gold’ is an original brew, from Head Brewer Michael Lees-Jones. It is brewed with the finest English hops and all British malt to produce a premium 4.5 % ABV golden ale, with tropical fruit aromas and a citrussy tropical fruit taste.

The launch of Gold is the final piece in JW Lees’ review of their permanent range which also included new beers Manchester Craft Lager and JW Lees Stout. In November 2017 the whole range was reimagined as a family of beers with bespoke illustrations and typography to give the beers a stunning new look.

Michael Lees-Jones, Head Brewer, JW Lees said, “Gold has been in development for some time it represents the result of decades of brewing experience and a lot of hard work. On the pump clip we’ve featured the plucky worker bee of Manchester as a symbol of this wisdom and effort.”

“We’ve blended tradition with innovation. three fantastic English hops, old and new Jester, Admiral and UK Cascade. The beer will launch officially in JW Lees pubs in time for the Easter Bank Holiday on Friday 30th March.”

Premium cask ale as a category out performs the standard cask ale category in volume and value. 82% of licenses say their cask ale sales are in growth. Cask ale drinkers visit the pub more than once a week and they spend significantly more per trip than any other customers.

Bringing a new permanent cask ale, brewed with the finest of English hops to the JW Lees family of beers will be a great addition to the market, giving the customers what they want.

Thirty-six JW Lees family managed pubs with be serving ‘Gold’ from the 30th March 2018.
