ONE HUNDRED STARS
We are totally IN LOVE with very British designer ONE HUNDRED STARS. We did introduce them to you a couple of weeks ago, but we wanted to include them in our newest blog about the Best Of British designers you’ll find at our favourite local lifestyle emporium Trilby Pheasant in Hawarden.
You may remember the social media chocolate brownie melt-down created by the effortlessly beautiful Nigella Lawson? The subject of the hysteria was less her heavenly choccie creations – but more the gorgeous silk dressing gown adorned with a map of Venice that she wore during ‘that episode’ of Nigella – At My Table.
The gown in question, one of many beautiful designs from British designer One Hundred Stars sold out as soon as Nigella disclosed the details, and this fabulous designer took a firm foot-hold in every chic and discerning woman’s night life…
One Hundred Stars are now über-famous for their hand-made silk pieces including summer scarves, kimono’s and gowns. And don’t forget – like so many Trilby brands, started out as a kitchen table company, which has grown organically by quality, integrity and uniqueness.
Gorgeous dressing gown, long coat with pockets and lapels. Super stylish. A great gift idea with plenty of other designs available. Also perfect for holidays and light to pack. Wear round the pool, house or on a night out as something a little different.
WYSE LONDON was created in 2014 by everyone’s favourite and original IT girl Marielle Frostrup. Still one of the coolest chicks on the London block, Marielle decided to create her luxury ready-to-wear cashmere collection because she felt that traditional cashmere was either plain, far too expensive or unflattering.
She certainly nailed the brief with WYSE, as this range is incredibly cool, hip and very flattering – and the price tags are a pleasant surprise.
Marielle says ‘So in December 2014, I decided to design my own range of cashmere jumpers. I wanted to create something that I would love to wear (which I now do all the time), in shapes that suit everyone, never plain or boring and yet affordable.
Being half french, simplicity and elegance is everything and I find that less is always more. But everything I design has a detail, be it a lurex thread, sequins, metallic leather or a pop of colour! I want it to be the jumper that makes people take a second look and ask where it’s from’.
We totally agree!
Hip and elegant cashmere with a pop of something different; dress it up with a little leather skirt and killer heels – or make an effortless statement with your favourite jeans and a pair of pumps. Every wardrobe should have one.
DIRTY VELVET – T-SHIRTS FOR GENTLEMEN REBELS
A visit to the Dirty Velvet website will make you smile. Set up in 2006 by the ‘Velveteers’ – Sloth, Panda and Weasel – Dirty Velvet is an achingly cool, high quality men’s T shirt brand with designs that offer a creatively different perspective to the mainstream.
Their aim is to create T-shirts with original graphics, combining strong and thought provoking imagery reflecting our slightly twisted view of humanity, modern life and the universe.
They are producing long lasting ethical clothing made with minimum impact to the environment and all of their T-shirts are produced using 100% organic cotton – grown without the use of pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers using methods that are ecologically and socially sustainable.
As well as being organic, the cotton is washed and combed to create robust garments that are also extremely comfortable to wear.
We now know exactly how to treat the men in our lives. After all, famous-fans Josh Widdicombe, Russel Howard, Usain Bolt and Professor Brian Cox can’t be wrong!
Next week we’ll be shining the WLC spotlight on WORKHOUSE ENGLAND – Sartorial British tailoring taking inspiration from bygone Victorian England …
