People think my job is very glamorous, and sometimes yes – it most certainly is! But then there’s the accounts, the admin, the legals and all the things that small business owners need to do to keep the wheels turning …
So when you get an email with an invitation for an outdoor adventure activity right on your doorstep where you can have some serious fun and let off some steam – you don’t pass it over!
It was great to hear from Katie recently who runs Tile Farm Off Road in Guilden Sutton, Chester. She is a follower of We Love Cheshire (always good to hear!) and she got in touch with her kind invitation a couple of weeks ago – I was delighted to accept.
I asked the better half of he wanted to join me, but his hectic diary didn’t allow – so my fellow adventurer for the afternoon was Mark Jarvis (you may know him as your super-friendly landlord at The Chester Fields Country Pub & Restaurant!).
I have never been to Tile Farm before – it is massive! A huge space in Guilden Sutton with a full working farm, a large livery and Tile Farm Off Road. It was a stunning Autumn day with bright sunshine and clear blue skies. Mark and I arrived and were immediately welcomed by Katie and co-host Tony. We learned a bit more about their business and Tony gave us a very clear and concise safety briefing.
Tile Farm Off Road is set in 250 acres of woodland – this is a proper off-road adventure experience. The beautiful Autumnal weather really added to the experience for me personally, but I wasn’t surprised to hear that some hard-core adventurers come specifically in the wet weather! Set in stunning Cheshire countryside, part of the route takes you across miles of tracks incorporating wooded areas and open farmland alongside the River Gowy.
Mark and I had a huge amount of fun – these quad’s can really pick up some speed and I soon found my confidence and navigated round the tracks with Tony’s expert tuition and guidance (he’s also very warm and very funny). Smarty pants Mark of course was already an expert after spending hours in dune buggies in the desserts of North Africa.
I can’t recommend this adventure activity highly enough. The team are incredibly safety conscious (all are European ATV Safety Institute qualified) and a huge amount of fun at the same time. The site is huge and incredibly well maintained. I’m delighted to have discovered Tile Farm Off Road, and I know I will become a regular visitor. Children are welcome from 12 years.
